Government: people who make and enforce the laws.

2. Unitary :
characterized by or constituting a form of government in which power is held by
one central authority.

3. Confederation
voluntary associations of independent states, to secure some common purpose, agree to certain limitations on their freedom of action and establish some joint machinery of consultation or deliberation.

4. Federal
characterized by or constituting a form of government in which power is divided between one central and several regional authorities.

5. Autocratic
government in which one person possesses unlimited power and the citizen has little if any role in the government

6. Oligarchic
government by the few, sometimes in which a small group exercises control especially for corrupt and selfish purposes. The citizen has a very limited role.

7. Democratic
a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections

8. Parliamentary
a system of government having the real executive power vested in a cabinet composed of members of the legislature who are individually and collectively responsible to legislature. May have a Prime Minister elected by the legislature

9. Presidential
The president is constitutionally independent of the legislature.

10. Dictatorship
this leader has not been elected and may use force to keep control.

11. Theocratic
The combination of strong national pride and strong religious beliefs has lead to the control of the government by religious leaders.

12. Communist
absolute control

13. Monarchy
Government that is ran by a king or queen.

14. Israel(unitary)
 Israel: parliamentary democracy, people elect representatives from different political parties; parliament is called the Knesset; the leader of the government is called the Prime Minister or Premier; all citizens over the age of 18 can vote(both men/women); elections are held every 4 years; freedoms exist for citizens; unitary system central government is Jerusalem; there is no written constitution but efforts are being made and the planned constitution will guarantee basic rights and liberties; Knesset is the legislative branch and is made up of 120 seats; the Supreme court is the head of the judicial branch; have various personal freedoms still some improvements needed;

15. Saudi Arabia (unitary/monarchy)
Saudi Arabia: hereditary monarchy ( led by a king who comes from a family that has ruled the country for several generations) King has advisors, many who are from his family, that influence businesses and religious leaders in the country who also make the laws of the country; there is no written constitution; the king rules for life. The people of Saudi do not choose the king, when the King dies the Saudi family announces who the next ruler will be; much of Saudi law is based on what the religious leaders say is found in the Quran; laws based on the teaching of the Quran are known as the Shariah law; nearly all Saudi citizens are Muslims. Men only 21 or older can vote; personal freedoms are denied here;

16. Iran (unitary/theocratic)
 Iran: theocracy government which is ran by religious leaders where God is seen as the true leader of the government and the country’s religious leaders serve as the political leaders; must be 18 or older to vote; (women and men can vote); in order to be eligible to vote in all elections; most Iranians are members of the Shia group of Islam; Iran is a member of OPEC and the decisions made the Iranian government have an impact on countries around the world; Assembly of Experts appoints the Supreme Leader (religious leader) for a period of four years elected by popular vote; National Assembly is comprised of 290 members who serve for 4 years; certain personal freedoms and equal rights, regardless of ethnic group or tribe, are written in their constitution.
