AVOIDING BACTERIAL INFECTIONS Five ways you can reduce your chances of catching a bacterial infection are: Limit your contact with people who have a bacterial infection Avoid sharing food or drink with others, especially if they have an infection Wash your hands frequently and carefully with soap and warm water Take warm showers frequently Eat properly and get enough sleep Antibiotics is a drug that can kill bacteria or slow the growth of bacteria.
