2 About LSC LSC is a 2 year Master’s Degree Course (Second Cycle) and taught mainly in English Based on the School of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Interpreting and Translation and the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures It provides students with a high-quality academic education and professional skills in the field of international communication

3 About LSC A range of subjects in the areas of :
Modern Languages (English, French, German, Spanish and Russian); Linguistics Courses; Historical, Geographical and Social Studies; ICT applied to Human Sciences Only one compulsory subject to be taken in Italian (Linguistics Courses – 1st year)

Knowledge of two languages of international communication; Ability to interpret the linguistic and sociolinguistic codes in various communicative situations; Comprehension of problems related to economic, social and cultural integration An Internationally-oriented attitude

5 Career Opportunities Expert in Language and Culture for International Relations Coordinating international communications at senior level; Planning and running international events; Top-level coordination in situations where communication patterns between different cultures are involved and need to be interpreted; Helping to design and manage socio-cultural projects to implement European language policies and protect the languages of migrants

6 Career Opportunities Text Editor and Sub-Editor in Multiple Languages
Revising texts in either of the two chosen foreign languages and in Italian; Producing texts in either of the two chosen foreign languages and in Italian; Writing up notes or tape scripts (e.g. from meetings) in English and in the chosen foreign languages; Liaising with professionals in other areas on questions of specialised lexis and terminology, especially in regard to websites and other on-line applications

7 Career Opportunities Language, Society and Communication prepares students to seek employment in many sectors, including: Administration, organization and public relations in private enterprises (event management, publishing and communication world, advertising); Public and Service Sector institutions; International Organizations, including NGOs.

10 Students Administration Office – Segreteria Studenti
The Students Administration Office deals with all the career procedures and gives information on: enrollments, tuition fees, exemptions, University transfers, suspension of studies, withdrawal from studies, Final Examination and Graduation Application, Certificates etc. Office Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9,00-11,15 am; Tuesday and Thursday 14,30-15,30 pm, via Bertoloni 4. FIRST YEAR Linguistics Courses related to the two languages (36 ECTS) – Two disciplines for each language These subjects involve transversal practical activities, that is, common for courses of the same language. Linguistics Course (9 ECTS) This discipline is related to Italian linguistics History, Economics and Geography Courses (9 ECTS) Information Technology I.C. (6 ECTS) * 1 ECTS = 1 CFU

SECOND YEAR Linguistics of the individual languages (18 ECTS) – one course for each language These subjects involve transversal practical activities, that is, common for courses of the same language Supplementary Disciplines (9 ECTS) Electives (9 ECTS) – This group includes Internship Final Examination (24 ECTS)

13 Admission In order to be admitted students should:
possess specific curricular requirements undergo an interview designed to assess their Personal Academic Background demonstrate their knowledge of the English Language (not lower than B2) Requirements and admission process are different according to the type of Degree held by students (Italian or Foreign)

14 Admission – Italian Degree
Curricular Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (1st Cycle Degree) with a minimum final mark of 105/110 48 ECTS* in the two modern languages studied previously (24 ECTS per language) If English was not part of your First Degree: one of the accepted English Language Certificates, issued in the last 24 months (it is also possible to take the OOPT) FCE Grade C, BEC Vantage, IELTS 6.5 (Listening: min 6.5), TOEFL 80 (Listening: min 22) or higher Students from an anglophone country are exempted! * 1 ECTS = 1 CFU

15 Admission – Foreign Degree
Curricular Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree demonstrating a theoretical and practical knowledge of two of the foreign languages taught One of the accepted English Language Certificates, issued in the last 24 months, or the OOPT FCE Grade C, BEC Vantage, IELTS 6.5 (with at least 6.5 in ‘Listening’), TOEFL 80 (with at least 22 in ‘Listening’) FCE Grade A, B, CAE grade A, B, C, CPE grade A, B, C, BEC Higher, higher scores in IELTS and TOEFL Students who are citizens of an anglophone country and hold a Foreign Degree and students holding a Foreign Degree issued by an anglophone country institution are exempted!

Assessment of personal academic preparation Personal preparation will be evaluated through an interview Students should submit: A Self-Certificate declaration – a signed declaration listing the exams you passed in the previous Degree(s) with the corresponding marks, credits and subject groups, as well as their University Diploma and any other University Record that they want to be evaluated If necessary a copy of their English Language Certificate If applicable, a long-distance interview request form, which should be adequately motivated

Assessment of the student’s reasons for applying The Interview will be carried out in one of the two foreign languages the applicant intends to study further, provided that it is not English. It will be focused on: The assessment of the student’s skills and knowledge with reference to the Degree Course Objectives The analysis of student’s motivations

19 Admission – Italian and Foreign Degree
Copy of a valid ID document (Passport or ID Card) Transcript/Self-Certificate of the previous Degree(s), exams and marks with specification of credits, SSD and final mark UNIBO STUDENTS: offices will automatically process your data. FOREIGN DEGREE STUDENTS: attach a valid copy of your Degree Certificate with all the exams taken (EU students can attach a Diploma Supplement) English Language Certificate or OOPT Certificate, if necessary Motivation Letter Adequately motivated long-distance interview form For non-EU students: copy of a valid residence permit
