Simply describe using precise and literal terms
Think of newspaper articles that describe an event
Sometimes this type of description includes pictures, diagrams, or drawings

4. Subjective Description
The author’s choice of words to describe reveal the author’s opinion.

5. Language that appeals to senses
Connotations – emotional associations
Denotations – direct meanings
Figures of speech – simile, metaphor, personification, allusion

6. Objective or Subjective?
