It has a population of 765,675 people It is in the same time zone as us It has been the capital since October 30th, 1880

3 Top Attractions The Island of Roatan is a popular port for cruises with snorkeling and the Iguana Farm Copan is a popular Mayan ruins site on the western side of the country The Island of Utila is regarded as one of the top diving spots in all of the Caribbean

4 Special Events Semana Santa- Is a Easter celebration week
Punta Gorda Festival- It takes place on April 12th to celebrate the settlement of Roatan Feria de San Isidro- Is a Mardi-Gras like festival held in La Ceiba the week before the third Saturday of May Feria Juniana- Is a festival of music, eating, and drinking in San Pedro Sula during the last week of June

5 Landmarks Mosquito Coast- A sparsely populated area with a few thousand Miskito people still living there and is home to some of the most diverse and hard to navigate ecosystem Bay Islands- They are home to the second largest coral reef in the world and are top areas for snorkeling, diving, and sightseeing trips like whale watching Copan Ruins- They are Mayan ruins on the west side of the country

7 Theme Parks There are currently no theme parks in Honduras

8 State Parks La Tigra- The first national park in the country and located outside of Tegucigalpa Punta Sal- Is known for its waterbird population and coral reef. Cusuco National Park- Is known for its quetzal population and easy access There are many smaller state/national parks throughout the country as well
