Many attempted to destroy the work of Jesus.

Many groups sought to discredit him
THEY TRIED – BUT THEY COULD NOT DO IT!

3. Plot Against Him
Matthew 21: They said to Him, “He will destroy those wicked men miserably, and lease his vineyard to other vinedressers who will render to him the fruits in their seasons.” 42Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. This was the Lord’s doing, And it is marvelous in our eyes’?

4. Plot Against Him
Matthew 22:15 - Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His talk.
Matthew 22:34 - But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.
Matthew 22: Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, 36“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”

5. Answer Him
Matthew 22:42 – “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” They said to Him, “The Son of David.”
Matthew 22:46 - And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore.

6. Answer Him
Mark 11: But Jesus answered and said to them, “I also will ask you one question; then answer Me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things: 30The baptism of John—was it from heaven or from men? Answer Me.”
Vs So they answered and said to Jesus, “We do not know.”

7. Destroy the Church
Matthew 16:18 - And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
Daniel 2:44 - And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

8. Destroy the Church Peter and John – Acts 5:18-25 Stephen – Acts 7
James – Acts 12
Disciples – Acts 8:4
Paul – stoned, in prison, driven from towns, ship wrecked

9. Resist the Gospel Acts 7:576 – Stopped their ears
Acts 24:25 – More convenient season
Acts 26:27-29 – Almost persuaded
Matthew 23:37 – Jesus want to gather them under his wing – they would not

10. Keep Jesus in Tomb Matthew 27:67 – Make it sure, Seal it, set a watch
Matthew 28:11-13 – Make up excuses – Apostles stole the body

11. Conclusion Matthew 28:6 – “He is not here: for he is risen.”
Many tried to keep Jesus from being the savior of the world
BUT THEY COULD NOT DO IT!
