2 January 2014 doc.: IEEE yy/xxxxr0 January 2014 Abstract Change the goal of HEW to a more interesting 4x throughput increase instead of the current 2x. Matthew Fischer, Broadcom, et al Matthew Fischer, Broadcom, et al

3 Existing PAR Language 5.2.b. Scope of the project:
January 2014 Existing PAR Language 5.2.b. Scope of the project: This amendment defines standardized modifications to both the physical layers (PHY) and the Medium Access Control Layer (MAC) that enable modes of operation capable of supporting at least two (2) times improvement in the average throughput per station (measured at the MAC data service access point) in dense indoor and outdoor deployment scenarios, while maintaining or improving the power efficiency per station. The new amendment defines operations in frequency bands between 1 GHz and 6 GHz. The new amendment shall enable backward compatability and coexistence with legacy IEEE devices operating in the same band. Matthew Fischer, Broadcom, et al

4 Proposed change to PAR 5.2b
January 2014 Proposed change to PAR 5.2b 5.2.b. Scope of the project: This amendment defines standardized modifications to both the physical layers (PHY) and the Medium Access Control Layer (MAC) that enable at least one mode of operation capable of supporting at least four times improvement in the average throughput per station (measured at the MAC data service access point) in a dense deployment scenario, while maintaining or improving the power efficiency per station. The new amendment defines operations in frequency bands between 1 GHz and 6 GHz. The new amendment shall enable backward compatibility and coexistence with legacy IEEE devices operating in the same band. Matthew Fischer, Broadcom, et al

5 January 2014 Straw Poll Do you agree to change the language of section 5.2b of the HEW PAR as is shown on slide 4? Y 104 N 7 A 9 Matthew Fischer, Broadcom, et. al

6 January 2014 Straw Poll Do you agree to change the language of section 5.2b of the HEW PAR as is shown on slide 4, with “in a dense deployment scenario” replaced by “in a scenario representative of a dense indoor or dense outdoor deployment”? Y 29 N 17 A 71 Matthew Fischer, Broadcom, et. al

7 January 2014 Straw Poll Do you agree to somehow include the words “indoor” and “outdoor” in 5.2b? Y 45 N 26 A 36 Matthew Fischer, Broadcom, et. al
