4 Discussion Points: What does professional independence mean in the context of the enlargement countries? How independent can an NSI be? How should independence of NSIs and implementation of related provisions of CoP be monitored – self assessments, peer reviews, formal visits, etc? How many of the provisions of CoP should become legally binding? How should other producers of statistics be covered by CoP? Which of the 8 indicators of principle 1 of the CoP would be most difficult to implement? in short/medium run What could be the main benefits for the enlargement countries from implementing the revised CoP? 7. What kind of benefit would come for the enlargement countries from the a CoC implementation?
