2 My Motivation Blocking AND Space
My Purpose: To encourage competition through student mastery of blocking techniques. I would like to create a Khan academy style system in which students can master different elements of blocking while traveling the stars. Reaching the edge of the universe would not be required, but encouraged through possible prizes for doing so. This would also allow me to constantly test student mastery and incorporate both of my passions into the classroom.

3 Timeline and Resources
The Blocking Unit will take 3 weeks to complete. Week 1: Blocking terms and professional tips Week 2: Pantomiming and setting the scene Week 3: Transitioning Following these 3 weeks, students will be given a certificate of blocking level one, and a planet name to associate with that level (Probably a planet in our solar system). I will determine some way in which they can achieve further levels and travel further into space possibly by creating videos they can watch and follow along with on YouTube or by working individually in after school practices. Resources: Certificates A map of the universe A YouTube account or website A step by step learning process for blocking mastery

4 Goals To organize the process of blocking into a step-by-step process.
To motivate student learning through creativity and “Traveling the universe.” To ease students into the competitive environment of speech and debate. To be able to assess student mastery of concepts frequently. To have fun in my classroom.

5 Context Course: Competitive Acting and Interpretation 1 Term: Yearlong
Context: 9th Grade Students, Greeley Central High School Overarching Concept: Students should be able to independently block out a 10 minute script by the end of this unit.
