2. The Titanic was built in Belfast by a company called Harland and Wolff.

3. It was a luxury Ocean Liner.

4. It was owned by the White Star Line Company.

5. The Captain was Edward Smith.

6. The Titanic set sail from Southampton on its maiden voyage on April 10th, 1912.

7. It picked up passengers in Cherbourg and Cobh on the way.

8. It then began its journey across the Atlantic Ocean to its destination, New York.

9. The ship had 2228 passengers and crew on board.

11. On April 14th at 11.40 pm the Titanic hit an iceberg.

12. The Titanic sank on April 15th at 2.20 am.

13. Of the 2228 passengers and crew members who set sail, only 705 survived.

14. The Carpathia rescued those in the lifeboats.

16. The news that the Titanic had sank spread headlines throughout the world.

18. On September 1st 1985 the wreck of the Titanic was discovered by Robert Ballard.
