2 What happened On the night of 14 of April, 1912, a terrible thing happened. A ship known as the Titanic had sunk into the Atlantic ocean by a huge iceberg. This presentation will show you what happened.

3 The building of the Titanic The construction was funded by J.P.Morgan. The construction of the Titanic was started on the 31 st March, 1909. The hull was made on 31 st may, 1911. Her outfitting was complete the following year.

4 Height and width The Titanic was 269. 1 meters long, 28 meters wide and 18 meters high. That is about 10 Double Decker buses stacked on top of each other!

5 The funnels of the Titanic She had 4 funnels but only 3 were operational. The 4 th funnel served as a vent and was put on to make the ship more impressive. A bit of a waste isn’t it?

6 Features of the Titanic The Titanic was full of luxury. It had an onboard swimming pool, Turkish baths, libraries in first and second class and a squash court. She even had café Parisien. And a gymnasium! Now that’s luxury!

7 Newspaper excerpts Here is an excerpt from the news of the Titanic sinking. 8 The lifeboats of the Titanic The ship had lifeboats onboard in case of emergencies. There were 4 foldout boats called collapsibles. There were also 20 lifeboats. But they had more lifeboats than legally required.

9 The maiden voyage The Titanic had started her voyage in Southampton, England and bound for New York. She first stopped at Cherbourg in France. Bonjour!

10 What's next in the voyage? The Titanic then got some passengers and then went to Queenstown in Ireland. But she had to go off shore. The passengers came in a ferry to the Titanic.

11 And what next? Now the Titanic is holding 2, 240 passengers and she is heading for New York, America. But there is a giant shadow ahead.

12 Iceberg goes bang! The giant shadow on the horizon was an Iceberg! The crew in the crows nest alerted the crew and the captain and they were trying to turn around from the Iceberg but They were to late! Bang! The Titanic had several punctures shot into her. Continued-> Continued->

13 Iceberg goes bang! Distress calls were sent out of the Iceberg hitting the Titanic. As the Titanic sunk, people who were awake were screaming! And peaceful music was played! The Titanic was slowly going deep down the Atlantic ocean. An order was given out that woman and children go on the lifeboats first. The men stayed to help the others.

14 Lifeboats are escaping As the Titanic was sinking, lifeboats were being launched. The time was 02:05 when all the lifeboats were launched.

15 Waiting…. Waiting…. Found! As the safe passengers were on the lifeboats, there was a ship coming up. At 04:10 the Carpathia found the passengers. At 08:30 the last life boat was pulled up and at 08:50 the Carpathia set sail to New York.
