3 Organization To be successful in an online class, you must begin your class by understanding the expectations placed on you for the semester. How is your grade calculated? What readings need to be completed and what videos need to be watched for each assignment? Next Page

4 Organization Tips to Stay Organized: Create a binder with your course syllabus and any other materials for the course. Create a calendar that lists any important course deadlines. e.g.: tests, projects due, etc. Create a weekly checklist with a list of everything you need to do for the week. Set reminders on your phone to help you remember to work on important assignments or to study at home. Check and log-in to Brain Honey/Blackboard daily. Next Page

6 Time Management To be successful in an online class, you must manage your time so you can complete all assignments by the end of the semester. Be able to answer the following questions. How much time will I need per week to be able to complete all assignments for the entire semester? Will I need to work on assignments during homeroom or outside of school? What type of schedule can I follow to develop consistency? How much time should I plan for make-up/redo assignments? Next Page

7 Follow the same pattern every week.
Next Page Time Management Tips to Better Manage Your Time: Make a weekly to-do list and monthly schedule. Make a plan as to when you’re going to accomplish all items on the to-do list. Create a routine. Example: Monday: Read Chapters 3 & 4 Tuesday: Write on discussion board and take notes over chapters. Wednesday: Write on discussion board and complete first assignment. Thursday: Write on discussion board and complete quiz. Friday: Take test. Follow the same pattern every week. Prioritize assignments and events. Plan for more time to complete longer , more complex tasks. Be flexible and plan for problems to arise. Don’t freak out when your computer won’t work Sunday night and your paper is due Monday morning. Begin working with plenty of time to spare.

10 Tips for learning a foreign language:
Study and practice everyday. Practicing everyday will help you better remember the information. Know your vocabulary. Create note cards with Spanish vocabulary words and their English word and definition on the other side. Go through these cards several times daily. Participate in all class activities. 4. Take notes. When completing lessons or activities, always write down what you are learning. You will be able to look over your notes during quizzes and tests. 5. Keep up with all assignments. As we learned 1st semester, it is nearly impossible to catch up and succeed when learning a foreign language. Next Page

12 Tips for writing Papers:
Know your topic. Do the reading. Do the research, etc. Before you type your paper, organize your thoughts. Develop a thesis and proper body paragraphs. Cite your sources. Nothing is worse than plagiarism, so make sure you avoid it! Check your spelling and grammar. Spell check misses some errors. Read your paper aloud or have a friend read it. Also, it is not proper to use contractions (haven’t, can’t) in a paper. Follow your teacher’s guidelines for formatting. i.e.: Times New Roman, 12pt. Font, double-spaced, etc. Simplify what you’re saying. Long, overdrawn paragraphs usually confuse readers and take away from what you’re saying. Table of Contents
