1 So you are dating an Unbeliever? Is this the Unequal Yoke?

2 What the unequal yoke is not! Having friends who are not Christians Working with non Christians Joining with non Christians in sport or cultural societies etc. Going out with someone of a different colour or country.

3 What then is the un- equal yoke? It is entering into a personal relationship with a non-Christian. It is going further and making legal and binding that relationship in marriage. It is allowing my decisions (spiritual/moral) to be influenced by such a relationship.

4 Why is it done? Physical Attraction Evangelistic Intention Sheer Desperation Spiritual Rebellion

5 Why should it not be done? 1. Teaching of Scripture 2. Maintain Testimony (1 Cor. 15:33) 3. Avoid Temptation (1 Cor. 6:19 & 20)

6 What does the Bible plainly teach? Deut. 22:10 & 2 Cor. 6:14 Amos 3:3 1 Pet. 3:7 1 Cor. 7:39

7 What are U saying by dating non Believers? It is sending out mixed messages to unsaved! (God counts but U count more!) Dont do as I do – but do as I say! I can break Gods Law with impunity!

8 Does an unequal yoke work? Rarely Never right to do wrong! Persistent sin brings chastisement. Cf 1 Kings 11 v 3,4 & 11

9 How to avoid getting into an equal yoke. Be careful to whom you give the affections of your heart. Cf Prov. 4: 23 Be guided by Gods Book. Make sure your intentions are honourable.

10 Test Drive never Buy! Do not use people for your own selfish ends!

11 Look for inner spirituality! Things are rarely what they seem!

13 Success of the Equal Yoke Ever deepening (Friendship – Courtship – Partnership) Ever forgiving Ever praying Ever giving.
