5 The Web Request Process
All web requests should be submitted at stetson.edu/web-request Once a request form has been submitted to Web Services, you should receive an shortly thereafter showing that the request has been added to our work queue. All communication about the request will then be handled solely through the ticketing system via . Request completion times vary per request and our workload. Once the ticket has been closed, please feel free to leave feedback to let us know how your experience went. 

6 Web Content-Related Services
We can work with you on updates to your website. We can provide web analytics reports to tell you how your website is performing. We can perform an audit of your website and recommend improvements. We can provide training. We can consult with you about any web-related projects you may have.

7 Streamlining Content Approvals
Choose the appropriate webpage layout that best fits the structure of your website. Keep your content short, concise and to the point. Always proofread your webpage before submitting for approval. A webpage version of editorial style guide is in the works! Not all webpages get approved on the first try. If yours is rejected for whatever reason, don’t fret! Call if you need assistance and be sure to submit again for publication. Making mistakes is part of the learning process and we won’t judge you!

8 Streamlining Form Request Approvals
Our forms: Are meant conduct official university business. Submits data via and/or stores data into a spreadsheet that you can clear-out or download on demand. Can do online transactions. Are not surveys. Use Qualtrics or Survey Monkey for surveys, so that you can better mine user submitted data. Very rarely interact with data in MyStetson. Contact the E.I.S. department in I.T. for any Banner-related form requests.

9 Improving On-Site SEO and SERP
On-Site SEO = Non-Paid Search Engine Optimization SERP = Search Engine Results Page An official guideline will be released by end of the semester. In the meantime, YOU can improve your webpages search rankings and drive more traffic to your website for free following just a few technical tips…

10 Tip #1: Meaningful Content
The content section can be found in Step #4’s first tab:

11 Content Used for SEO (major impact) and sometimes SERP.
Avoid duplicate content. Webpage content should be aligned with user search intent and be user-friendly. There should be enough content to provide relevant information to users. Paragraphs should only be three to four sentences each. Use bullet points to break-up larger content blocks, but do not overuse them.

12 Tip #2: Meaningful Metadata
The metadata section can be found in Step #4’s second tab:

13 Metadata: Title Used for on-site SEO and SERP (major impact).
Avoid duplicate meta titles. Format: Webpage Title – Website Name | Stetson University “Webpage Title” should be characters or less. Avoid all caps. Written to attract people.

14 Metadata: Description
Not used for on-site SEO, but it is used for SERP (major impact). Avoid duplicate meta descriptions. Should include relevant key phrases. 160 characters or less. Do not use quotes (search engines will strip them out). Written to attract people.

15 Tip #3: Meaningful URL The URL can be modified in Step #5:

16 URL: Format Used for SEO and SERP (minor impact)
Should be human readable. File and folder names should use dashes for multiple words. All URL’s should be completely in lowercase. Format example: Note: Be careful when changing established file names!

17 Tip #4: Descriptive Multimedia
All images should use descriptive alt-tags that are relevant to the webpage’s content. All image and file names should be named in a user-friendly manner, using the same styling as the webpages, i.e.: Bad: …/DSC_ JPG Good: …/sage-hall-holiday-party.jpg Bad: …/Half%20term%203Yr-Calendar %20revised%2011OCT16%20(1).pdf Good: ../half-term-academic-calendar.pdf
