9 Key Terms Culture The attitudes and behaviour that are
characteristic of a particular social group Norms Behavioural expectations within a social group Deviant People who do not conform to the norms of the social group

10 Key Terms Primary Socialisation
Learning the norms of society from family members Secondary Socialisation Learning the norms of society from other agents e.g. teachers, peers, media e.t.c. Social Structures The building blocks of society e.g. family, education system, NHS

11 Key Terms Social Diversity
The differences that exist between individuals within a society e.g. race, gender, class Social Groups The different groups that you are a member of e.g. student, chav, muslim e.t.c. Social Roles The expectations on how you will behave that are set by the social group Social Status The individual’s position in society compared to others

12 Social Roles In any one day a person will usually ‘play’ several different roles. What roles have you ‘played’ today ?

13 Social Status What standing do you have in society?
Of course the different roles in our life come with a different status.

14 P1 task – Use publisher in microsoft or word
In order to achieve P1, you will need to create an informative booklet on the following sociological perspectives: Functionalism, Marxism, Feminism, Interactionism, Collectivism, New right, Postmodernism.

15 P1 Task – Deadline For each of those theories, you will need to ensure that you have the following information. Name of the sociological perspective, Key terminology in the perspective, Key ideas surrounding the perspective, 2 strengths of the perspective, 2 weaknesses of the perspective. Example in context

16 P1 task You will need to identify all the sources which you have used in order to gather the information required and feel free to use the information from my away morning task (grid). Useful sites:
