3 Louisiana Purchase Louisiana Territory had belonged to Spain after French and Indian War Spain “sold” to France during Napoleonic Wars Napoleon had made his brother the King of Spain Napoleon needed money to pay for his wars

About 3 cents an acre Jefferson thought it was a great deal But he wasn’t sure the Constitution would allow it After much debate, he decided to push for purchase

Gained tons of knowledge about the area, people, and animals that people back east didn’t know about Lewis made governor of Louisiana Territory Commits suicide after a few years Clark made liaison to Native American tribes Later governor of Missouri Territory Full contents of their journals released 100 years later

10 Assignment You will create a comic strip using what you know about the Louisiana Purchase Choose 1 or more groups of people: Women, African-Americans, Farmers, Native Americans Use the provided information and your knowledge to create a comic strip (1 or more panels) using images and words that describes how the Louisiana Purchase affected the group(s) you chose This will be graded using the Criterion D: Critical Thinking rubric
