2 Following Directions Following directions is doing what a set of instructions or series of steps tells you to do. To complete the goal of the directions, pay close attention to all the details in the directions, and be careful to follow the series of steps exactly. Directions can tell you what to do, when to do something, how long to do something, where to do something, how to do something, and how much to do something.

1. Crack the eggs open and beat them in a small bowl. 2. Add the milk to the eggs and beat it in gently. 3. Add the salt and pepper to the egg mixture. 4. Put oil in pan and turn stove on medium. 5. Read the series of steps below and answer the questions that follow. To open Microsoft Word, select Start  All Programs  Microsoft Office  Microsoft Word. Word will open with a blank document. A window will pop up. In the top of the window, choose the location where you want to save the document. Under “File Name” at the bottom, type in the name for the document, and click Save. If you already have Word open, you can create a new document by clicking on the File menu and selecting New. A New Document screen will open to the right of the main Word window. In the New Document screen, click on Blank Document to open a new Word document. To enter text in a blank document, just begin typing. The blinking cursor will show you exactly where your text will begin. As you type, Word will automatically wrap text to the next line. If you would like to move to the next blank line, press Enter.
