2. What are Verbs?
Definition: The verb is the word that tells what is being done in the sentence and/or is a helping verb.
Example:
Sarah sits out during basketball.
In this case, “sits” is what we might call a doing verb- it is something you can do!

3. What are Helping Verbs?
Helping Verbs are often used with doing verbs to give exact meaning
Example:
Sarah was trying.
In this case, “was” is the helping verb, and “trying” is the doing verb. This is because was tells us that she was trying in the past. It helps make the meaning clear!
It can be helpful to memorize helping verbs!
