2 The Organization Hitler Youth in German was know as Hitler-Jugend (HJ)
The organization was divided into two categories, one for members ages and the other for members The structure was based on a military model, with squads, platoons, and companies.

3 Youth Education The Hitler Youth was a paramilitary organization of the Nazi Party It lasted for 23 years It was for the German youth/kids Hitler was a firm believer in teaching the Nazi ideas early to the youth of Germany and the vitality of the “Thousand Year Reich.” The Thousand Year Reich is the common name for Germany when it was a totalitarian state ruled by Adolf Hitler Young people were expected to conform to NAZI values and expectations.

4 Education They were taught mostly at school by the teachers, they were taught to adore the Nazis, Hitler and Germany The 97% of the teachers who agreed to teach the German kids had to take a 6-week course to shroud the children’s minds with Nazism They were politically programmed to obey orders They were taught to stop thinking when the magic word ‘Fatherland’ was uttered and Germany’s honor and greatness were mentioned.

5 Boys Education The older groups were 14-18
The younger groups were 10-14 It emphasized the teaching of loyalty to Hitler and the regime. It sponsored youth activity to reinforce the importance of male physical strength, vitality, and militarism at a very young age. Boys spent a lot of the time doing physical education, which included skills like hunting, camping and shooting.

6 Girls Education It was the only female youth organization in Nazi Germany. The League consisted of two sections: the Young Girls League, for girls ages 10-14, and the League proper for girls ages 14-18 Girls had to be able to run 60 meters in 14 seconds, throw a ball 12 meters, complete a 2-hour march, swim 100 meters and know how to make a bed. The girls' youth organizations were instead used for training girls to become good housewives, good wives and how to produce the perfect off spring

7 The White Rose It was a non-violent intellectual resistance group in Nazi Germany It consisted of students from the University of Munich and their philosophy professor They became known for an anonymous leaflet and graffiti campaign that lasted a little over a year
