1 Future Vision of Education in High Road School of Wallingford
Sharonica Foster Post University

2 Educational Organization
The High Road School of Wallingford High School is an educational facility that seeks out to assist students ranging from the ages of who have academic needs as well as behavioral needs. This educational facility personalizes each students academic program to fit their needs. Students are given both academic and behavioral goal in which the teacher along with other school staff set out to work with the student each day.

3 Technology I-pads – High Road School allows students to use I-pads for those students whom they deem could use the assistance of this device. Allowing the students of this learning institution to use these devices prepares them for life when they return to there entering school and or district. Devices like this one allows students to be creative, all while being mature and independent. Smartboards- The use of Smartboards while in the classroom, allows teachers and educators to push students to the next level. These devices assist the teacher to open the minds of students by allowing the educator to transform the classroom to different places in time all while students never leave their seat.

4 Scenarios Scenarios are stories or potential outcomes that could happen to and or in the future. When unknowns and or uncertainties arise scenarios can assist in making important decisions. Advantages Allows for changes to be made Plans for unknowns and or uncertainties Disadvantages People may not be familiar with the school and or district Could be overly used which may not be good in the long run Rasmus, 2016

5 Scanning Scanning takes place by looking at significant changes that may be taken place. Scanning looks at the big picture when it comes to change rather than just looking at the specific organization. Surveys are normally looked at through the Internet, magazines, along with newspapers. The majority of the time scanning is done so that trends can be seen, and changes can be made based on those trends. There are difficulties and or challenges when one scans, this may be but isn’t limited to unreliable data, and or data that may not relevant to that specific area (Morrison, 2000).

6 Educational Trends The use of IPad Be mindful of the digital footprint that all people leave behind Technology devices such as tablets and or I-pads that assist students in learning Staff at High Road will need to instruct students on how to properly use the technology that they are being given, as well as being aware of what they are posting The use of smartboards The use of smart boards to allow students more hands on learning Smartboards allows for students to journey and explore outside of the classroom without ever having to leave

7 Economic Trends Funding Not enough funding per school and or district
School funding based on town and city in which you live (the better and or wealthier the town the better school system) Tax Payers pay for educational funding School Staffing High teacher turnover rate due to lower wages and or salary New Teachers with no previous experience Not enough supplies for each child

8 Demographic Trends Diversity Classroom and schools have moved to become more racially diverse Schools are more ethnically diverse than they were 50 years ago The majority of students will be those of color Education is moving and adapting to technological advances More student inclusion More diverse teachers to meet the need of the students Homeschool More parents choose to homeschool their child Parents not happy with curriculum being taught Parents worried about school safety

9 Vision In the next five years all the learning spaces at High Road School will have been redesigned to fit the needs of all the students. Students will actually be on the fast track to returning to their district school rather than staying at High Road for years when they are not suppose to. Every classroom will be equipped with smartboards, Mac computers, and I- pads for those who may choose to use them. Blended courses may be introduced for those students who cannot come to school and or class. In the future High Road will look more like a typical learning institution rather than a psychological institution. Students will be afforded more independence while at High Road school, also teachers and staff will move to treat each and every student as if their behavior is not who the student is as a whole yet just a part of who they are.

10 Plans for Change When it comes to the changes that are about to take place High Road School should prepare for these changes by: Having more professional development for teachers and school staff so that they are abreast to how one should use the new technologies that will be in each and every classroom Look at and analyze all technology trends for the past 10 years to see how they can improve technology in this school and how they compare to other transition schools in the area. Establish a formal teacher/educator salary increase for all school staff in order to keep staff from transferring and or leaving

11 Call to Action There are many things High Road School can do in order to prepare for the future of the school. First administrators can improve professional development for teachers and staff. This can be done by making the professional development interesting and engaging to staff. This can then open the door for staff to be trained and or retrained on how to use the new technological devices in which they will be receiving. Began introducing new technologies into the classroom slowly and attempt to engage students in the use of these advances.
