3 What is a Church “A Gathering of People” - Physical place
-Most sacred place for Christians -Place where community comes together -Religious Place of worship

Rites of Initiation Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation (for Catholics) Marriages XV Mass and Worship Funerals Community Events

5 Church as a Building Church Chapel: Cathedral
Space where congregation gathers Entire architectural space Chapel: Smaller space Usually a room within a church or a non-religious building Cathedral Architecturally bigger The seat of the bishop Tend to be located in larger cities versus small towns.

These are some of the most common examples of the different styles of architecture, but there are many more Gothic Romanesque Byzantine
