2. What is a rain forest ?
A rainforest is a hot and humid place located around the equator.
The rainforest gets 80 inches of rain per year.
It is home to half of the animals in the world.

3. Location of Rain Forests
Rainforests are located in Asia, Africa, Australia, North and South America.

4. Emergent Layer
The Emergent layer is the highest layer in the rainforests. Here monkeys, sloths, harpy eagles, butterflies,and orchids live.

5. Canopy Layer
The Canopy layer has the most animals in the rainforest. Some of the animals that live there are sloths, lemur, birds, and bats.They also have lianas and leaves.

6. Understory Layer
The Understory layer includes bats, birds, monkeys, and frogs. Plants here include lianas and orchids.

7. Forest Floor
The Forest floor is below the Understory. It has ocelots, capybaras, anteaters, and anacondas.Here lilys and bushes live.

8. Deforestation
Deforestation is happening in rainforests for logging, mining, cattle grazing, and building cites and towns.

9. People of the Rainforest
Tribes of the rainforest, such as the Yanommi, Asmat, Pygmie, and Kayapo hunt, eat plants, and make soup from the rainforest.

10. Lemurs
Lemurs jump from tree to tree. They are brown or black and white. Lemurs eat fruits, seeds, and leaves.

11. Colorful in the Rain Forest
One day a macaw was born. Her name was Colorful but she was dull. Her colors were dark green and dark red. She had a brother named Dull but he was colorful as a rainbow. They did not get along.One day they had a flying contest. Colorful was in the lead but Dull took over and won. The next day they had another flying contest and Colorful won
