Announcements of multi-stakeholder action initiatives by leaders of governments, business, civil society, indigenous peoples Action Areas: ♦ Energy Efficiency ♦ Renewables ♦ Short Lived Climate Pollutants ♦ Forests ♦ Agriculture ♦Transport ♦ Cities ♦ Adaptation, Resilience, and Disaster Risk Reduction ♦ Public and Private Climate Finance, including Carbon Pricing Announcements made at Summit will be those that are most significant, concrete & broadly supported

5 LAND-USE/FOREST Action area
Combating Deforestation Forest countries: Signal intent to come forward with ambitious goals and policies on deforestation in their post-2020 climate contributions. They could announce how much they can do alone and how much they can do with international support. Developed countries: Signal intent to include reduced forest emissions in developing countries in their forthcoming post-2020 mitigation contribution, and reward early REDD+ results to be verified through UNFCCC process. Companies: Announce time-bound commitments to eliminate deforestation from their supply chains, and demonstrate willingness to invest in greening their supply chains. Indigenous Peoples: Continue to sustainably manage their forests as they have done for generations, and join other constituencies in articulating a shared vision for the protection of forests.

6 LAND-USE/FOREST Action area
Accelerating Forest Restoration Drive forward the Bonn Challenge goal of restoring 150 million hectares of the world's degraded and deforested lands by (This alone has potential to deliver 1 GtCO2e of emission reductions per year over the critical next 50 year period.) Support countries to pledge restoration of at least another 150 million hectares of degraded landscapes and forestlands by 2030

8 oUTCOMES Of the Summit The primary Summit outcomes will be the announcements, actions and joint statements A summary by the Secretary General will capture Summit results - no negotiated outcome Let’s work together to ensure that Forests are prioritized in the Summit to generate momentum for the Paris UNFCCC COP and beyond and to boost investments in REDD+, deforestation-free supply chains and forest restoration.
