The other kids and Ronald were surprised that Ronald was allowed to play because they thought that Ronald was bad at baseball.

The kids saw the third graders and thought they could never be as good as them.
Ronald’s positive attitude (team spirit) made everyone feel good about the team.
After Ronald missed the ball, he thought he should give up on baseball.
