1 Ronald Morgan Goes to Bat
A Realistic Fiction story

2 What makes this story realist fiction?
The people in the story act like people act in real life. People actually play baseball in real life like they do in the story. We have to practice to become good at things like the kids practiced in the story. Having a good attitude can make things better in real life as it did for Ronal’s team in the story.

3 Sequence the events… Try to remember the events of the story in the order in which they happened.

4 Sequencing Ronald Morgan…
First, Mr. Spano told the class that everyone could play baseball. The other kids and Ronald were surprised that Ronald was allowed to play because they thought that Ronald was bad at baseball. The kids practiced every day, but Ronald didn’t do well because he was afraid of the ball. The kids saw the third graders and thought they could never be as good as them. Ronald’s positive attitude (team spirit) made everyone feel good about the team. After Ronald missed the ball, he thought he should give up on baseball. Michael told him the team needs him for spirit. Ronald’s dad helped him with hitting. Practicing and hitting the ball made Ronald feel like the team really did nee him.
