1 Resurrection: Fact, Not Fiction 1 Corinthians 15:19-20; Luke 24:36-45 04/01/2018 Dr. Dane Boyles

2 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.
20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:19-20)

3 False Theories of the Resurrection:
The Swoon Theory The Myth Theory The Conspiracy Theory

4 The Biblical Testimony regarding the Resurrection
36 While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. (Luke 24:36-37)

5 38 He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?
39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” 40 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. (Luke 24:38-40)

6 41 And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate it in their presence. (Luke 24:41-43)

7 44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” 45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. (Luke 24:44-45)

8 Four Resurrection Benefits to Us:
The Resurrection fully confirms the truth and validity of what Jesus taught and did. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. (1 Co 15:17)

9 Christ’s resurrection is the guarantee of our resurrection.
9 Because I live, you also will live (John 14:9).

10 The body in itself is good, not inherently evil, as some have mistakenly thought.
21 “who … will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body” (Phil 3:21).

11 We have assurance of the contemporary power of Christ in life today.
