1 Walt Disney The Story Of His Life

2 Who was Walt Disney ? Walt Disney was a TV producer and the creator of Disney World. He was born on December 5th 1901 in Illinois, Chicago, America. His wife was Lillian Bounds Disney and was a father to Diane Disney Miller and Sharon Mae Disney . He was the creator of Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse and won 22 Academy Awards in his life. He came from a family of 7; 3 brothers, 1 sister, him, mother and father. His father was an Irish-Canadian, Elias Disney and his mother was German-American ,Floral Call Disney. He Died in 1966 in Burbank, Canada.

3 The Start of his Career. At an early age Disney started drawing pictures for his family and neighbours. Disney became interested in trains and later worked on railroads. At night he went to art classes at the McKiney High School in Chicago and studied cartoonist drawings. When Disney became 16 he decided to drop out of school to join the army but wasn’t accepted as he was seen as underage. He made a decision to join the Red Cross and was sent to France for a year as an ambulance driver.

4 The Start of his Career continued
In 1919 he moved back to America in Kansas City where he was given a job by his brother, Roy Disney, as a newspaper artist. A few years later he got fired from his job for lacking imagination. From this he opened his own new company and his first employee was Fred Harman who was his old work mate. They named their new company Laugh-oh-Grim and their cartoons were very, very popular. This allowed him to buy his own studio and create 7 {seven} minute tales. The company became a burden because he was in debt and months later he was forced to announce bankruptcy.

5 The New Family Company With his brother , Roy Disney, they created Disney Brother Studios which made its way to Hollywood. There first contract was worth 1,500 dollars to make the Alice cartoons. In 1929 they created Silly-Symphonies. December 21st 1933 he produced Snow White and Seven Dwarfs which made an unbelievable million dollars and won 8 Oscars. More then 100 short films were made in the studio.

6 Disney land Appearance
On July 17th 1955 Disney was able to buy a 17million dollar building to design and create Disney World with his business partner/brother, Roy Disney. This became well-known for rides and meeting your favourite Disney characters. In such a short time the sites money increased and tourists from around the world came to observe the new, popular site. From that its improved so much.

7 When Did He Die? A few years Later after the opening when he was making big plans for improving Disney land and constructing had began, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and died in 1966. He was cremated {burned} and the improved theme park was named Walt Disney World in his honour. After his death his brother took over the company in his honour.
