Read a leveled book with someone 3-5 times. Do a picture walk, predict, read, re-read, retell, and connect with the book.
writing
Sound out to write your own story about playing in the snow. Write 3 or more sentences using a capital at beginning and lowercase letters for the rest, period at end of sentences, space between words and then draw a picture.
math
Write numbers 0-20 in a pan of snow or shaving cream. Then add and subtract within 5 in the snow pan. Count your snack today before eating it.
phonics
Practice the Phonics Dance – have your child sing it to you. If you don’t have a copy at home go to and select schools, Nevin Coppock, staff, then select your teacher’s website. Or you can go through the alphabet and have your child tell you the name and the sound of each letter. Make sure they name both vowel sounds!
review of all skills
Go on or to review skills. Use flashcards. Work on beginning sounds, sight words, numbers 0-20, adding and subtracting up to 5.
