2 Health insurance in India
Only a fraction of Indian population has medical insurance. In absence of adequate health insurance in case of serious illness and hospitalization what are the options available? Spend from savings Sell property Borrow from relatives Borrow from financial institutions at high interest rates

3 Health insurance in India

4 Why health insurance? Insurance cost has risen over 150% over the past few decades. Medical expenses can wipe away your hard earned savings instantly if you don’t have adequate health cover. Corpus fund collected for retirement/ children’s education/ wedding will dissappear in a very short while in case of an unforseen medical emergency.

6 Do you remember the Ant and caterpillar story ?
The ant knew winter was coming so he worked hard collecting food during summer while caterpillar lazed around and laughed at the ant. When winter arrived, the ant had enough food while caterpillar starved.

7 Moral of the story? Planning is important.
Health benefit insurance is the best way to plan for unforeseen medical emergencies. When you buy vehicle insurance, you know that it will cover you in the event of an accident. So why take chances with health?
