Flamingo facts -Are about 3 feet tall (mostly legs) and are very lightweight -Are strong swimmers and speedy fliers, despite rarely doing so -Leg knobs are ankles, not knees -Eat with beak upside down -Feed their child “crop milk” -Don Featherstone made the plastic lawn flamingos

Courtship and Babies <3<3
-Are monogamous -Males do a courtship dance to attract the ladies -Babies (crèches) aren’t born according to seasons -Parents lay one egg per year, regardless of if the babies survive infancy

Growing up -Eggs are sat on for about 30 days
-Crèches become independent after about a week -Are adults at 2 years and sexually mature at 6 years -Lifespan is years

Jellyfish facts -Come in a wide variety of sizes -Have no brains
-Mouths and anuses are the same hole -Sometimes glow in the dark -Occasionally eat peanut butter

How it works: -Are considered both sexual and asexual
-Can lay up to about 40,000 eggs at once -Have children every day -Lifespan can vary: polyp’s age -Parentless

Jellyfish sex -THe mouth is key in reproduction for males and females
-Males release sperm into water -Females eat the sperm, fertilizing the egg -Eggs are kept in the gonad and nourished -Released from the mouth and are now planula -Planula begin to grow into a polyp
