7 Direct Programs The Imagination Library Kindergarten Readiness Camp
Program administered directly by United Way staff and volunteers The Imagination Library Mails books to children from birth through 4 years of age every month to encourage early reading and family connections. Must have a parent or guardian that either lives or works in Columbus, works at Cargill – Schuyler or Sentinel Buildings in Albion. Kindergarten Readiness Camp Focused on helping children entering Kindergarten develop the social/emotional skills needed when starting school. Open to all children in Columbus and surrounding area Children who have not attended preschool, have limited exposure to a school setting, or need to build their confidence in a group setting are encouraged to register. The United Way Directory of Services Tool for community members and service providers to find detailed information on local health and human service agencies. Located on and available in print. Over 350 programs listed as well as hotlines that address a variety of issues. Bridges Out Of Poverty Four hour workshop the United Way provides to the community. Gives insight on the differences between our basic economic classes; It provides community organizations, employers, social service agencies and educators an understanding of the issues and strategies related to reducing poverty. 2-1-1 Free, multilingual, confidential service available by dialing Helps individuals locate community-based and government agencies for services.
