3 What will AO3 look like – a recap
After your introduction, there will be a ‘historians section’ This will be made up of 4 paragraphs and these paragraphs will be: Historian 1 (view) Historian 2 (view) Historian 1 (context in which they write) Historian 2 (context in which they write) Word count: 1000 words (250 words per paragraph approx.) Then, in your themes you will evaluate whether your find your historians convincing or not Know Which historians you need to research for your coursework Understand How to use these historians in your coursework Evaluate Model answers from last years cohort

4 A03 – WHAT SHOULD IT LOOK LIKE?
You have been given a COURSEWORK FROM LAST YEAR Task: read through THE HISTORIANS SECTION and give it a level based on the quality of the answer (USE THE ao3 mark scheme in your planner). Now you have looked at a historians section, you are now going to look at how historians are evaluated in the themes. Task: LOOK AT HOW AND WHERE HISTORIANS APPEAR AFTER THE HISTORIANS SECTION – BE PREPARED TO SHARE YOUR FINDINGS Finished? Makes notes on the footnotes used (books and page numbers) Make sure there is a print out of all A03 marks for teachers to have Know Which historians you need to research for your coursework Understand How to use these historians in your coursework Evaluate Model answers from last years cohort

5 A03 – DRAFTING A PARAGRAPH
you are now going to start writing (on paper) a draft of your historians views. You are going to pick one of your historians and write: One paragraph that shows that you understand a) your historians answer to your coursework question b) the specific reasons and evidence they use to support their answer One paragraph that evaluates the context in which your historians writes (with reference to how the context strengthens or limits them as a historian) Timed conditions so that we can get onto D.I.R.T Know Which historians you need to research for your coursework Understand How to use these historians in your coursework Evaluate Model answers from last years cohort

Swap your paragraphs with the someone on your table. TASK 1: HIGHLIGHT WITH ONE COLOUR WHERE YOUR PEER HAS EXPLAINED THEIR HISTORIANS ANSWER TO THEIR COURSEWORK QUESTION TASK 2: HIGHLIGHT WITH A SECOND COLOUR EVERYTIME YOUR PEER HAS USED A SPECIFIC REASON/PIECE OF EVIDENCE FROM THEIR HISTORIAN TASK 3: READ THE ao3 MARKSCHEME IN YOUR PLANNER AND USE THIS TO WRITE: 1X WHAT WENT WELL COMMENT X EVEN BETTER IF COMMENT d.i.r.t Use a green pen to redraft your paragraphs Know Which historians you need to research for your coursework Understand How to use these historians in your coursework Evaluate Model answers from last years cohort

HOMEWORK: COMPLETE TASKS 1-4 FOR YOUR SECOND HISTORIAN FOR NEXT LESSON Know Your historian’s interpretations in relation to your investigation Understand The specific arguments made by your historian Evaluate Whether you are convinced by your historians TASK 1 Finish reading your historians and answering the questions relating to the reading TASK 2 On a blank piece of paper, write down: Your historians answer to your c/w question Specific arguments/evidence they use to support their judgement TASK 3 Collect a ‘context in which they write sheet’ and complete the activities CHALLENGE Grab a coursework from last years cohort and read their historians section. Give their historians section a mark using the AO3 mark scheme in your planner. Get students to put a post-it on the board with their name so we can see where they are TASK 4 Collect a ‘linking historians to your themes’ sheet, copy the table into your own notes and fill it in HINT: Pick a coursework from last year and see how they linked their historians and themes
