Mason – more sceptical especially in relation to the working class. Welch – argues that you need to separate different strands of propaganda – successful in overall support for Hitler – varied success in relation to other policies. Also adds that it was successful in reinforcing existing attitudes rather than countering views. Geary – successful when it played on traditional prejudices and values.

Conclusion Does it lift the answer by summarising the arguments but then adding something more? Does it come to a judgement? Does it incorporate understanding of historical interpretations and debate? Paragraphs for and against Does the paragraph use the PEE structure? Does the paragraph answer the question clearly in its ‘explanation’? Does it use solid evidence to support its point e.g. statistics and examples?
