FULL OUTLINE (Intro—we’ll come back to this…) Fully developed and written BTS for each Roman numeral At least 2 pieces of meaningful evidence for each Roman numeral Two sentences of analysis for each piece of evidence What does it mean? Why does it prove your thesis? (Conclusion—we’ll come back to this…)

3 1st sentence: tell me why your evidence is relevant to the context.
Evidence & Analysis 1st sentence: tell me why your evidence is relevant to the context. 2nd sentence: tells me how this evidence is proving a point/argument.

4 PARTS OF THE INTRODUCTION
Can we recall from our Macbeth paper? The Hook (1-2 sentences): an interesting fact, point of view, meaningful quote (that wouldn’t be evidence…), anecdote or something such as these… NO QUESTIONS!!! Background (3-5 sentences): this is where you should give some historical context. What is happening in the area and time on which you will be writing? This can be general, but set the scene… NO EVIDENCE!!! Thesis (1 sentence ONLY!): Here’s your argument…if you’ve been gently knocking on the door with your intro, this is where you kick it in! BE SPECIFIC!!!

5 PARTS OF THE CONCLUSION
Can we recall from our Macbeth paper? The “restatement” of your thesis (1 sentence): This is where you re-word your thesis…remind the reader of the argument you made! BRING IT ON HOME!!! Summarize (3-5 sentences): recap your paper…what did you actually write about in your work? NO NEW EVIDENCE!!! Parting shot, the “reverse hook” (1-2 sentences): If you kicked in the door with your thesis, this is where you might slam it shut following your lovely explanation. MIKE DROP!!!
