2 Federal Money Recreational Trails Program
Land and Water Conservation Fund Funded through National Park Service 50/50 Match, reimbursement program Acquisition and/or development of public outdoor recreation areas LWCF assisted areas must be maintained and opened, in perpetuity, as public outdoor recreation areas Funded through Federal Highways Fixing America's Surface Transportation (FAST) Act 80/20 Match, reimbursement program building and rehabilitating trails and trail facilities two-step process: an RTP grant for preliminary engineering (PE) followed by a construction grant.

Recreational Trails Program Counties, cities and towns Park and recreation authorities Tribal governments State agencies Funding may be awarded to city, county, town or other government entities. Registered nonprofit groups partnered with a government body also are eligible.

7 Virginia Land Conservation Fund
State Money Virginia Land Conservation Fund Created in 1992, first funded in 2000 19-member Board representing VA’s 11 Congressional Districts Sec. of Natural Resources, Sec. of Agriculture & Forestry, and 17 citizen members – Director of DCR serves as Exec Secretary Interagency taskforce develops scoring criteria and advises board on project priorities

11 Eligibility Who may apply:
State agencies, federal agencies, localities, public bodies, and nonprofit organizations that are “holders”.  Minimum application = $200,000 total cost for land preservation and conservation projects; $25,000 total cost for public interpretive programs, signage, and exhibits.  50/50 Match reimbursement program. 
