1 LEQ: What is meant by co-dominance, incomplete dominance, multiple alleles, and polygenic traits?
9.12 to 9.16

2 Incomplete Dominance One allele is not completely dominant over the other When both alleles are present the phenotype is between the phenotypes of the parental varieties How can you tell the difference between dominance and incomplete dominance? Dominance would have 2 phenotypes Incomplete dominance has 3 phenotypes

3 Incomplete Dominance

4 Neither allele is dominant over the other allele
Co-dominance When different alleles are present at the same time, both alleles are expressed Neither allele is dominant over the other allele Example: Roan Cattle

5 A gene that is controlled by 3 or more alleles
Multiple Alleles A gene that is controlled by 3 or more alleles

6 Human Blood Typing

7 Pleiotropy The control of more than one phenotypic characteristic by a single gene

8 Polygenic Inheritance
Traits that are controlled by 2 or more genes Characterized by having 3 or more phenotypes (a range of phenotypes)

9 Environmental Impact on phenotypic expression
Human – expose to sun, nutrition, exercise Plant – climate, exposure to sun, water, wind
