2. What is CTSA?
Consolidated Transportation Services Agencies are designated by county transportation commissions (CTCs), local transportation commission (LTCs), regional transportation planning agencies (RTPAs), or metropolitan planning agencies (MPO) under the state legislature Assembly Bill 120, Social Services Transportation Improvement Act.
AB 120 was adopted to “to improve transportation service required by social service recipients by promoting the consolidation of social service transportation services”.
Access Services was established in Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA) in its capacity as the regional transportation planning agency (RTPA) designated Access Services as the Consolidated Transportation Services Agency (CTSA) for Los Angeles County.
Access Services has sought to fulfill its CTSA mandate in a manner that is commensurate with the size of Los Angeles County and complexity of services offered.
The purpose of the Act was to improve the quality of transportation services to low mobility groups while achieving cost savings by efficient use of vehicles and funding resources.
We believe that it is most effective to provide the best possible information and technical assistance to Los Angeles County's specialized transportation providers through Access Services Learning and Development Program.

Guest Speakers
Beginning this year, in our efforts to increase Access Service efforts for coordination, and collaboration with Transit agencies including Social Service agencies, we’re have created 4 areas under the CTSA Extension :
Learning and Development –
The learning development aspect of CTSA include training classes where professionals can refresh, enhance, and or gain skills and awareness. Historically, attendees of the trainings would receive information about the trainings for the year through constant contact outreach and a printed book. As Access Services is transitioning to become more user friendly, we would like to follow the same path by introducing our CTSA Extension Electronic Book (E-book). This will enable attendees to not only review all the trainings for the year, but also other great highlight of CTSA Extension, such as our future guest speakers, awards/scholarships.
The E-book will also feature a link to our registration page to assist attendees with registering for a particular class.
Community Connections Symposium - The purpose of the event will serve as an informational platform to share with health and human services representatives, including social service professionals; this will be the first year this event will be introduced to Access Services, and we would like to capture the essence by bridging the gap between transportation and social service. The goal and vision of the symposium is to bring together Health and Human Services Departments and Social Service Agencies to share with the attendees about Access Services. Awards and Scholarships-
The Joe King Memorial Scholarship, established to honor the work and contribution of Joe King, who was a valued members of Access Services whose qualities of empathy, passion, honest, and integrity made him a leader. The award is given to an individual who exhibits those same qualities and contributes to transit and paratransit services in the County; the winner receives a paid tuition to the University of the Pacific, Transit and Paratransit Mgmt. Certificate Program
With our long standing partnership with UOP, they have offered to contribute another scholarship award given to an individual working in social services. University of the Pacific also offers the Transit Paratransit Management Certificate Program, hosted at Access during the Fall of the year.
Guest Speakers-
As a new aspect to the Extension program, we will introduce a guest speakers. Historically, this was not previously done, but in order to continue our networking and collaboration efforts, we want to bring in speakers to motivate, inspire, and inform the audience. Guests speakers will be from various professional backgrounds who are eager to share their journey with others.

4. CTSA Extension
Access Services CTSA Extension strives to expand and connect transit professionals and social service representatives to bridge Los Angeles County’s transit needs.
The programs offered through CTSA is available to public and nonprofit agencies who provide specialized transportation in Los Angeles County
CTSA Extension Distribution Roster
The CTSA Extension Distribution Roster, consists of over 500 professionals who have attended a training class, expressed interest in attending a class. The professionals on the roster receive alert about upcoming trainings, and any other news related to CTSA Extension.

5. The Future of CTSA
Offer educational classes and workshops to enhance the development for all professionals
Implement collaborative events to expand networking between transit and social service professionals
Establish partnerships and foster relationships with a host of social service and health and human service providers throughout Los Angeles County
Establish a working group with state wide CTSA agencies
