1 Welcome to our Assessment and Reporting Meeting
Tuesday 2ndth October Key Stages 2 and 3

2 Why are we holding this meeting?

3 The curriculum is a mastery curriculum
Progress is not about It is about mastering a racing up a ladder range of skills Geography

4 Linslade Assessment System
Each year group Emerging Developing Secure Mastered All pupils have personalised aspirational targets. These are based on : Prior attainment data External tests (Progress Tests in English, maths and science.) Teacher Assessments Future Predictions The aim is that pupils will consistently attain or exceed their personalised targets in most /all strands within a subject and thus overall within a subject.

5 Each year a pupil will begin a new programme of study that builds on prior learning.
This may include: The development of skills through new knowledge The acquisition of new skills or New knowledge Secure = Age Related Expectations (on track to receive at least a 5 at GCSE) Mastered = Exceeding Age Related Expectations (on track to achieve a higher grade at GCSE)

6 So what is a mastery curriculum?
Giving pupils the opportunity to acquire and secure knowledge, skills and understanding and then apply these within new and more challenging contexts. It’s about breadth and depth. Or, as one parent suggested, acquiring a basket and filling it with fruit!

7 How do I know my child is making progress?

8 Pupils’ work in their exercise books
What will we see in pupils’ work? You will see: E, D, S, M. Pupils may have target tracker sheets in their books. There are assessment sheets in books, in some subjects, based on ‘I can’ statements. Teacher feedback and comments. Pupils being asked to reflect upon/focus on areas where they may struggle or where more stretch is required.

9 Formative/on-going assessment in practice.

10 We assess for success … Children don’t fit a model and progress and attainment need to be success and evidence based. This is why we expect pupils to be at or working towards their aspirational target throughout the year. Each term’s report will reflect the pupil’s individual performance in the topics/strands covered in the term in question.

11 Reporting points…. Report 1 will be issued on 12th October. This will include:- Aspirational Targets Behaviour for Learning GL Assessment reports to parents in core subjects Reports 2 and 3 will be issued in February and July. These will include:- Overall subject attainment bands and targets Curriculum strands taught and bands attained in each subject strand Progress Indicator In July’s report there will also be a written report from the pupil’s tutor.
