2. What is an –ER Verb ? An –ER verb is a ‘doing word’ that ends in –ER.
Eg: acheter to buy
aimer to like
écouter to listen
habiter to live

3. How do you form the present tense of –ER verbs?
It is very easy!
All you need to do is remember 5 easy steps...

4. STEP 1
Chose you –ER verb and write it down:
DANSER
(to dance)

5. STEP 2 Take off the –ER ending. You are left with THE STEM. ‘DANS’
(this is your stem)

6. STEP 3 Write the 9 subjects of your verb: Je Tu Il Elle On Nous Vous
Ils
Elles I
You (informal) He
She
One / Someone We
You (formal / group)
They (masculine)
They (feminine)

7. STEP 4 Write the stem next to your 9 subjects: Je dans Tu dans Il dans

8. STEP 5 Write the present tense endings at the end of the stem.
