2 WHAT Identification and comprehension of the improved solutions that ICTs offer for need-based learning in the context of convergence of technologies

3 To choose the best solution:
WHY To choose the best solution: @ for a certain target group @ in a particular learning environment @ for special learning activities

4 Blackboard architecture
@ Integration of disparate knowledge resources @ Modularity @ Flexibility @ Software reuse @ Extensibility HOW

5 Hybrid learning paradigm tailored to the needs of the learners and reflecting the
3L reality: @ eLearning @ mLearning @ gLearning HOW

6 mLearning focuses on mLearning @ learning across contexts
@ learning in a mobile society @ learning with portable technologies @ learning across contexts mLearning focuses on mLearning

7 Mobile Learning mLearning @ in collaborative projects and fieldwork
@ as a classroom alternative to books @ learning in museums or galleries with handheld or wearable technologies @ learning outdoors, where learners are widely dispersed @ to engage with learners who in the past have felt excluded @ in promotional and awareness campaigns @ for ‘just-in-time’ employee training @ the use of personal technology to support informal or lifelong learning, such as using handheld dictionaries and other devices for language learning. mLearning

8 Interacting with small devices
Technical challenges Connectivity Battery life Interacting with small devices Challenges

9 Social and educational challenges:
@ The intrusion of formal education into daily life @ How to assess learning outside the classroom @ How to support learning across many contexts @ Developing an appropriate theory of learning for the mobile age @ Design of technology to support a lifetime of learning Challenges

10 Global learning represents
a hybrid learning paradigm that comprises all learning models in the benefit of individuals, regardless of their age, organizations, whether public or private, and society, as a whole. gLearning

11 A global perspective of long-life learning synthesizes the key insights of education:
gLearning

12 The three questions associated with translating a face-to-face classroom into a Web-based one they present are: Content: how to render traditional content suitable for Web delivery Delivery: how distribute the learning material anywhere, anytime Participation: how to ensure that everyone is optimally involved in the learning process gLearning

13 The definition of gLearning revolves around three principles:
@ gLearning is Adaptable: Customized learning objects are filtered to the learner in a hierarchy that maximizes acquisition of new material @ gLearning is Ubiquitous: The online classroom can operate outside of the constraints and be “asynchronous. @ gLearning is Uniform: the gLearner exchanges purposeful, standardized, pre-formed, assignable “Participation Units” so that all students cooperate in teams, circles, communities and are involved in the learning community   gLearning

14 Take a trip into the future and see how IT will change
The four stages of internet growth identified by Mills Davis: Web 1.0: The WEB connected and assured accessibility to information Web 2.0: The Social Web focused on connecting people, “putting the “I” in the user interface and the “we” in the Web” Web 3.0: The Semantic Web aims to represent meanings and to connect knowledge Web 4.0: The Ubiquitous Web will connect intelligence and will help people and things to reason and communicate with each other Take a trip into the future and see how IT will change
