6” below ledge of windows
Remove large bushes/shrubs near doorways
Plant roses or thorny bushes below ground floor windows

Do you have a spare key hid outside?
Is it hid in one of these?
Leave a key with a trusted neighbor or family member!

7. Reduction strategies When your out of town for a while…
Leave on the TV or some lights.
Invest in a timer
Have a trusted friend alternate lights
Stop mail delivery or have a trusted friend collect it for you.
If there are any vehicles alternate where they are parked
If you notice anything out of the ordinary call 911!!

Give it a visual check inside and underneath
Lock the doors once inside
If you think you are being followed go to a police station, fire, ems building or the emergency room. Also, 24 hour stores that are well lit.
Park in well lit areas.
If a large van or truck is parked next to your vehicle go back inside and ask for an escort or assistance.
Have your keys ready!
Walk with your head up and with confidence.

Be the last person off the elevator
Place a business card in luggage tag instead of home address
Avoid the rear doors on buses
Avoid dark bus stops
Call ahead for taxis and get the name of the driver

Use caution and know how to set restrictions on info
Avoid posting locations
If selling items do not list your address
Don’t have potential buyers come to your residence.
Meet at an agreed location
If you mention a law enforcement agency and they quickly refuse…red flag!!
