What are we learning this month?
FAMILY FUN DAY BASKET!
Our basket’s theme is PICNIC. I will be sending home ideas.
Fundations: We are in Unit 8. Students are working with two syllable words.
Closed syllable, vowel-consonant-e syllables, and open syllables. They have also learned that Y can sometimes be a vowel.
TDR (Teacher directed Reading):
We are in Unit 5. Students are learning about poetry. They are learning that poems have beat and rhythm. Students will be able to identify the characteristics of a poem. They are also working on reading a poem and answering comprehension questions.
Math: We are currently working in Unit 5, our Geometry unit. Students are learning how to partition shapes into halves, thirds, and fourths. Students are also working on partitioning shapes into rows and columns. Students have learned how to use defining attributes to describe shapes.
Science: Our unit is called “Matter”.
Students will be learning about what matter is and the three states of matter (solid, liquid , and gas.) Students will be describing and giving examples of each state. We will be performing experiments to see how matter changes states.
