Welcome to... 4H Miss Hamilton Mrs Knight

2 Objectives To inform you of the year 4 curriculum.
To inform you of the expectations for children in year four.

3 Routines 8.55am – school begins 3.15pm – school ends
Late procedures - ASC Contact with teachers Playground rules Mindfulness/Restorative approach

4 Sickness If your child has a ‘bug’, it is our school policy that they are kept at home for 48 hours after the last episode. General illness

5 Uniform Full uniform to be worn at all times - This includes their tie which it to be worn every day, please practise at home Hair must be tied back Earrings should not be worn in school – children can not take part in PE if they wear earrings. Full PE kits should be in school Monday to Friday. This includes shorts, t-shirt, jumper, tracksuit bottoms and trainers. P.E for 4H is Monday (indoor) and Wednesday (outdoor). Swimming has already started and replaces PE indoor. EVERY item should be clearly named – even water bottles

6 Equipment Children should provide their own stationery for use in all lessons: Glue stick Colouring pencils Pencils Rubbers Sharpeners Scissors

7 English Daily English lessons in the morning. Big Write Handwriting
A BIG focus on punctuation, including capital letters and full stops! Presentation – heading towards zero tolerance Grammar

8 Spelling Spelling focus to be introduced every Monday which has been taken from the NC Spelling tests every Friday Dictations during the week Year 3 – 4 spelling list

9 Reading Regular reading in school with high level adult input
Follow up homework each week – high standard is expected Comprehension sheets

10 Maths Daily maths lessons in the morning
Mental maths focus to begin each lesson Reasoning and problem solving skills Vocabulary – including spelling Times tables FAST maths Mrs O-B times table club

11 Times Tables By the end of year, all pupils should be able to recall times table facts up to 12x12 to meet the end of year expectations! Weekly worksheet FAST Maths

12 Homework English – set Friday, due Wednesday
Mathletics –set Friday, due Wednesday Spelling – set Monday, due Friday FAST maths – set and completed Tuesday Reading – each child has three nights to read and answer their questions. It is stated what day it is due in on their book.

13 FAST Maths Weekly sessions in school on Tuesday– whole class activity – table activities – test Daily practice at home 3 minutes for test Folders must be returned on Tuesday Overview of topics

14 Curriculum map Science – Changing states, Living things in their habitats, Animals including humans, Sound and Electricity. History – Romans, Ancient Egypt & Anglo-Saxons Geography – Jungles and Deserts, The Sunshine State and Sustainability. Art – Roman architecture, Egyptian Art, African Art and sculptures.

15 Spanish – Travel, weather, healthy food and drinks and animals.
R.E - Christianity and Hinduism. Friday 16th November – 4H Class Assembly

16 Computing E-safety = Gooseberry Planet
Coding = Scratch, Purple Mash and Scottie Go! At home, please be aware of the websites your children are using and their age regulations.

17 Trips and visits Swimming and bikeability – Autumn term
Sayers Croft and Egyptian workshop – Spring term Hindu Temple - Summer term

18 Sayers Croft A very exciting residential trip for the children!
There will be a meeting nearer the time to answer any questions and more information will be given. Sleepovers

19 Inclusion Intervention within class
