Issues Major Issues from the Appraisal:- Delay in release of funds (3-4 months) from State to District. Less utilization of food grains (50%) and cooking cost (49%). Less utilization of funds (58%) for honorarium to cook-cum-helpers. Less Utilization of transportation assistance (25%) and MME (9%). Only 16% schools have been inspected till 3rd quarter. Slow progress in procurement of kitchen devices. Mismatch in data reported through AWP&B and MDM-MIS. Kitchen-cum-Stores has not yet started in 23% schools. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India

MI issues:- School officials seemed to be ignorant about the existence on any helpline number though department informed about the availability of toll free number at the state level . In majority of the sample schools monitored by MI in the district it was reported that honorarium was paid to cooks cum helpers through cash. Both fireweed and LPG is used in cooking depending upon the availability & requirements, use of fire wood was more common than LPG. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India

Best Practices Provision of State Share of Rs.1750/- per month towards honorarium to CCH. All cook cum helpers are medically examined twice in a year. In the year Rs Lacs has been released to provide soaps for washing hands for Pry & U. Pry Schools. Cooks appointed by SHGs who are mostly the mothers of the children studying in that very school. Kitchen garden in schools by making use of available land in the schools. All schools in the State have been provided with Thali and Spoon.
