3 English Course Options
12th Grade English Course Options RECOMMENDED COLLEGE PREP CLASSES for the future technical, community and 4 year college student. AP Literature & Composition Students who took AP Lang (otherwise, speak with your English teacher about taking course) Often read 100+ pages & substantial writing English Composition 1 (CHS) Students who scored a 3 or 4 on the SBAC Depending on grade, earn an English college credit through Skagit Valley College Bridge to College Students who scored a 2 or 3 on the SBAC Students who earn a “B” or better are eligible to enter directly into credit-bearing English classes in college

4 12th Grade English Elective Course Options
These may be taken along with either Bridge to College, English Composition 1 (CHS), or AP Literature OR they may be taken on their own. You must have 4 years of English to graduate. 0.5 Credit English Options Open to 12th Grade Students Journalism I, II or III (application required) Lit thru Film Career Planning Debate Dramatic Literature/Composition Drama III (after passing Drama 1,2) Creative Writing Graphic Novels Technical English Sports Literature Playwriting

5 English Elective Options – 0.5 Credit Options
9th 10th 11th 12th Debate (eligible for 0.5 Senior English credit) * Intro to Creative Writing Creative Writing Introduction to Graphic Novels Graphic Novels Sports Literature Dramatic Literature and Composition Playwriting Intro to Literature Through Film Literature Through Film Journalism (Application required - eligible for 0.5 Senior English credit) Career Planning Technical English Drama III (Only available if passed Drama 1&2) Intro to Literature Through Music

6 Math Course Progression
9th Grade 10th Grade 11th Grade 12th Grade Recommended for students planning on attending: 4 year college, community college, or tech school Geometry 202 Algebra Adv. Algebra 302 Pre-Calculus AP Statistics AP Calculus Bridges to College Algebra Fulfills High School and State requirements Algebra in Manufacturing (AMPED) Geometry 201 or 202 Geometry in Construction Math 250 Financial Algebra Accounting I *None required if state requirements are met. Minimum of 3-years math required for graduation **Math Course Placement for registration is based on recommendation from your current Math teacher. Please let them know if you want to progress more quickly**

7 Specialty Math Courses
Gaming and Mathematics Elective only Must have passed or currently taking Algebra 0.5 Credit/Year

8 Science Course Progression (Class of 2021)
9th Grade 10th Grade 11th Grade 12th Grade Fulfills High School & State requirements Biology or Agricultural Biology Physics or Chemistry Science Electives* *None required- if State Requirements are met Accelerated Science Pathway (suitable for four-year college or university) Biology Physics or AP Physics AND Chemistry or Preparatory Chemistry (CHS – Chem 100) *Students would take 2 science courses concurrently* AP Chemistry OR Chemical Concepts and Lab (CHS – Chem 110) AP Biology Starting with the class of 2021, all students will be required to pass the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) to graduate

14 Social Studies Course Options
12th Grade Social Studies Course Options Current Domestic Issues/Civics (CDI) (semester-long; .50 credit) Current Foreign Issues (CFI)(semester-long; .50 credit) OR AP Comparative Government & Politics, 1.0 credit (fulfills the 0.5 CFI and 0.5 CDI requirement) Social Studies Elective (if not already completed) These can be taken in any order during senior year
