1 Physics Chapter 2 – Section 1
St. Augustine Preparatory School August 17, 2015

2 Practice Questions Page 40: 1, 3,5, 6 **Show all your work**
Done last class.

3 Creating Graphs from Sentences
Mark walks 3.0 meters east in 10. seconds and then stops for 5.0 seconds. He then proceeds to walk another 4.0 meters east in 10. seconds. Draw the position vs time graph. Kathy walks 4.0m east in 5.0 seconds. She stops for a 6 second break and then walks 2.0m west in 5.0 seconds. Draw the position vs. time graph.

4 Average Velocity from a Graph
Graphs are used in physics to solve Problems. To find Vave , we can use the slope of the graph. Slope = rise/run which is Position/time or x/t in this case

5 a) What was the average velocity of this entire trip
a) What was the average velocity of this entire trip? b) what is the average velocity between 2s and 6s? c) between 0s and 4s

6 Finding Instantaneous Velocity
Instantaneous Velocity is the velocity at an exact time example: At 3.0s, the velocity of the car was m/s We use tangent lines to find instantaneous velocity
