Organism – an individual thing Population – group of the same species that lives in one area Community – group of different species that lives in one area Ecosystem – community + nonliving things such as air, water, soil, rocks, climate, etc. Biome – global community of organisms characterized by climate and plant life

5 Biotic versus Abiotic The only difference between a community and an ecosystem is an ecosystem includes nonliving things! Page 20 of your Biology Notebooks – see example Biotic – living or once living “bio” = life Abiotic – nonliving “a” = not “bio” = life
