4 The Manitoba Gazette Publishing all legal notices, announcements and information in Manitoba Historically only available in print to paid subscribers Currently available electronically by paid subscription Print statutes and regulations still available for a fee Declining demand for print The Manitoba Gazette has been the official publication of the government since the first edition on July 21, It plays an important role in publishing legal notices, announcements and information in Manitoba. While the Gazette was historically only available in print to subscribers, it is currently available electronically by paid subscription only. The smaller sized gazette was launched in May CSM continues to deliver an online Manitoba Gazette through paid subscriptions. Copies of printed statutes and regulations continue to be available upon request for a fee. There continues to be a decline in the demand for print copies and bound copies.

5 The Queen’s Printer Act
Possible amendments to The Queen’s Printer Act and multiple pieces of legislation. Appointment of the Queen’s Printer of Manitoba Changes to subscriptions Changes in legal requirement to print in newspapers Increased function of the Manitoba Gazette Looking into amending the following: The Queen’s Printer Act establishing the Deputy Minister of the department that administers the Act as the Queen’s Printer of Manitoba which would eliminate the need for Cabinet to repeatedly appoint an individual person to the role. possibly removing barriers that would allow us to move The Manitoba Gazette to an online publication and make it available to the public and interested parties at no charge (currently digital paid subscription) changes would allow us to move forward in the way we provide important information and legal notices, but it would also increase the distribution as well as reduce the cost of administration of the Gazette. Also looking into amending legislation that relate to the government’s requirement to publish official notices allow for the online publication of the Manitoba Gazette (removing mentions of “issues”) replacing requirement to publicly publish notices in the newspaper with requirement to publish in the Gazette, or other appropriate manner depending on the notice. notices would then be available to everyone at all times in one location. electronic formats are much easier to store, research, etc. (law firms, public, etc) easier to find archived and current notices
