Week of October 1, 2018 What we are studying…….. Reading~ A Musical Day (Focus Skill: Sequence of events) Language~ Punctuation Marks ( Question Marks and Periods); Writing~ Response to Literature Math~ Base Tens; 10 More/Less & 1 More/Less; Counting to 120; Expanded form Social Studies~ Geography (Landforms & Oceans) Word Study Words Students will be tested next Friday and will have to write each word correctly. These are some examples of word patterns that will be used. The words on this list will not necessarily be the ones tested, but they will follow this spelling pattern. WEEK 9~ short /e/ sound Word families -elt, -ent, -eg, -em, -ept belt melt felt smelt beg peg leg them gem went hem stem bent dent tent sent *Visit for more phonics practice! Sight Words Students will be tested next Friday. Students will have to say each word instantly, without sounding them out. They will not have to write them 1. want 2. came 3. also 4. show 5. around 6. set 7. put 8. farm 9. small 10. three Homework Daily: Read, or have someone read to you for 10 – 15 minutes Monday: Math Sheet and Word Work sheet Tuesday: Math Sheet and Word Work sheet Wednesday: Family Night (No Homework) Thursday: Parent/Teacher Conferences Ice Cream on Tuesday $1.00 Please send money only on Tuesdays & put it in the laminated envelope in the homework folder. Specials SD3 – Tuesday (See Calendar) SD4 Wednesday (See Calendar) SD5– Thursday (See Calendar) Fall Break- Friday SD1 - Wednesday (See Calendar) Oct. 10th *Please wear gym shoes on the day your child has PE. Our specials time is 12:10-12:55 LCDS Buddy Walk Bake Sale Our Low Country Down Syndrome Bake Sale will be Wed., Oct. 3rd(changed date from initial date) (More information will go home on at a later date) Book Fair Our Class will visit the “Book Fair” on Tuesday, Oct. 2nd at 10:30.You can send $ or you may send $ Wed. or Thurs. to purchase books. All students will make a wish list Tuesday at the Book Fair. 4H Any student wishing to show livestock at the “elementary age” can do so through 4H. Please contact the 4H office or Amanda Kessler at ECMS. Lunch Menu Tues. ~ Cheeseburger & FF Wed.~ Chicken Tenders Thurs.~ Pepperoni Pizza Fri.~ No School/Fall Break Wed. ~ Hot Ham & Cheese Sand.(Oct. 10th) We eat at 10:57. You may also sign up online at to pay for your child’s school meals. Please send all notes, signed forms, etc. in this notebook. We do not check book bags for notes or money.
