4 Because: I have written for newspapers, both local and national.
I have written reviews for gaming magazines and helped design internet critic websites. I set up a school newspaper when I was your age ($$$$)

You have four minutes to answer the following two questions. That’s about two minutes each. Where else can people find the news apart from newspapers? Make a list which begins with the words: “People can find the news.... (from, at, by..) How many newspapers can you name? Make a list.

10 WHY STUDY NEWSPAPERS? Papers do not need to be recharged and they cannot be broken. 42% of people say that newspapers are more important than T.V. or radio. Writers, reporters, editors, photographers, advertisers, paperboys and many other people make a living from this trade. Do you want to fire them? They are over 300 years old and that itself deserves respect. (Worldometer – Newspapers)

13 TABLOIDS Tabloids – entertaining news meant for gossip and enjoyment.
(often sickening)

Masthead: Title and logo of newspaper Strapline: Extra, smaller introductory headline Pug: promotions, special offers or price of newspapers. Photograph: Important for how audience will react. Headline: The large font above an article.

Showing what’s coming up inside the paper. Byline: Where the name of the reporter goes. Caption: Explanation of the image. (usually just in Broadsheets)

17 Homework For Monday, could everyone bring in the front of a newspaper, the more odd or unusual the better. For tomorrow, answer this question. Why do you think tabloids use more pictures than broadsheets? Two reasons.
