In this poem there are three stanzas - what is the purpose of this? Stanza: a division of a poem consisting of a series of lines arranged together in a usually recurring pattern of meter and rhyme.

Poem is about the violent destruction of the environment and addressed the negative thoughts and results associated with mining from an Aboriginal perspective. The poem describes mining as destructive and a violent industry which is undertaken for the sole benefit of greed and power.

14 Views and values The audience’s emotions towards this poem include sadness and loss as a result of the violent language associated with the miners on the land, and the sorrowful words used to describe Aboriginal people and their beloved land. The reader may feel disappointed in regards to the Australian actions completed by the miners and feel sorry for the Aboriginals on behalf of their loss. Lastly, the audience will experience the anger Noonuccal felt towards white Australians as they stole her historical land and used it for their own greedy purposes.
